Dentro de las competencias que se pretende desarrollar en los futuros profesionales destacan la capacidad de acceder, discriminar, categorizar y relacionar la información. El acceso Web ha posibilitado que los estudiantes dispongan de un amplio margen de fuentes de consulta. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo establecer la relación entre el uso de bibliotecas institucionales y el desarrollo de competencias lectoras así como el desarrollo de habilidades investigativas, describe el proceso de inducción de manejo de bibliotecas institucionales en un grupo de estudiantes pertenecientes a una I.E.S. El tipo de investigación empleado fue descriptiva y la metodología inductiva-deductiva, aplicando aprendizaje basado en problemas. En el estudio se estableció mediante encuestas el nivel de manejo de las bibliotecas institucionales antes y después del proceso de inducción, así como también se evaluó la capacidad de lectura y análisis utilizando la Biblioteca Institucional. Los resultados mostraron mejoras en las capacidades investigativas de los estudiantes. Como conclusión se obtuvo que el poner en contacto a los estudiantes con fuentes de información fiables contribuye a propiciar la lectura crítica, mejora la capacidad de expresión y motiva para el desarrollo de futuras investigaciones.; The University has been affected by the different changes that happened in society. Among the competences that are intended to be developed by future professionals, they include the ability to access, discriminate, categorize and relate information. Web access has enabled students to have a wide range of sources of consultation. The present study aims to establish the relationship between the use of institutional libraries and the development of reading skills as well as the development of investigative skills, describes the process of induction of institutional library management in a group of students belonging to an I.E.S. The type of research used was descriptive and the inductive-deductive methodology, applying problem-based learning. In the study, the level of management of the institutional libraries before and after the induction process was established through surveys, as well as the ability to read and analyze using the Institutional Library. The results showed improvements in the investigative capacities of the students. In conclusion, it was found that putting students in contact with reliable sources of information helps to foster critical reading, improves the capacity for expression and motivates the development of future research. Esta investigación está enfocado en el diseño de una organización económica popular solidaria direccionada a los productores de cacao del cantón Alfredo Baquerizo Moreno (Jujan). Este postulado de la UNESCO fue considerado para el propósito de este trabajo de investigación que consiste en analizar la investigación en el marco de la educación superior y la valoración de las competencias del docente universitario en Ecuador. Como estrategia metodológica se asumió la hermenéutica clásica —la cual remite a la reflexión sobre enunciar, interpretar y traducir— considerando para ello la investigación documental /bibliográfica.
