Riesgo sísmico en Barquisimeto. Aprendizaje desde la catástrofe de Turquía

Abstract

El terremoto ocurrido en Turquía el 6 de febrero de 2023, si bien es lamentable por la magnitud de los daños humanos y materiales ocurridos, brinda una oportunidad para analizar el estado del arte de la construcción sismorresistente en ese país, así como las diferentes acciones de los organismos gubernamentales y sociales comprometidos con la aplicación de normativas, para mitigar los daños de estos terremotos. El estudio que aquí se presenta de las características de este evento y la experiencia vivida en esos momentos por ese país, permite evaluar y comparar por igual el estado del arte en sismorresistencia en el eje urbano de las ciudades Barquisimeto - Cabudare, ya sea en la organización gubernamental como social, con la finalidad de mejorar la capacidad de respuesta ante un evento sísmico.

The earthquake that occurred in Turkey on February 6, 2023, although regrettable due to the magnitude of the human and material damage that occurred, provides an opportunity to analyze the state of the art of earthquake-resistant construction in that country, as well as the different actions of government and social organizations committed to the application of regulations to mitigate the damage of these earthquakes. The study presented here of the characteristics of this event and the experience lived at that time by that country, allows to evaluate and compare equally the state of the art in earthquake resistance in the urban axis of the cities Barquisimeto - Cabudare, either in the governmental and social organization, with the purpose of improving the capacity to respond to a seismic event.
