Aprender matemática: dificultades desde la perspectiva de los estudiantes de Educación Básica y Media

Abstract

Este trabajo presenta las causas que manifiestan estudiantes chilenos de Educación Básica y Media para explicar los bajos resultados en matemática. El estudio es de tipo cuantitativo, de nivel descriptivo y mediante la aplicación de una encuesta. La muestra fue accidental y consideró 1253 estudiantes de 50 establecimientos de ocho regiones de Chile. Las principales causas de los bajos resultados son: las especificidades de la disciplina, el desempeño docente, las características propias de los estudiantes y los instrumentos de evaluación.

This paper presents the causes manifested by Chilean students of primary and secondary education, to explain the low results in mathematics. The study is quantitative, descriptive and through the application of a survey. The sample considered 1253 students from 50 establishments in eight regions of Chile. The results indicate that the main causes of the low results are: the specificities of the discipline, the teaching performance, the students' own characteristics and the evaluation instruments
